Girls Excel founder Delphine Konda received a ‘certificate of Honour’ and cash prize for her contribution towards empowering girls and young women in rural communities through Girls Excel. The event was organised by Raising A Generation of Esther’s Foundation (RGE) on the 16th-17th of June 2017 in Buea, Cameroon as part of its annual women conference.
RGE Foundation is a United States based Non-profit organisation that empowers young women in developing countries in Africa by providing academic scholarship, mentorship and leadership development opportunities. This year, RGE foundation organised its annual women conference under the theme ‘ Beautiful You’ to expand their influence beyond school girls by creating a platform which brings together women from different parts of Cameroon to ‘cultivate potential, transform lives and unleash destinies’
Speaking about the award, Ms Favour Ikome, founder and Executive Director of RGE founder thanked Girls Excel members for bracing the odds to ensure that girls in the most vulnerable communities have access to sexual and reproductive health education. According to her ‘the cash prize is a token from RGE foundation to further support the work of Girls Excel in Cameroon.
Girls Excel reaffirms its commitment towards empowering girls in the most vulnerable communities in Cameroon. This award is just an indication that we are making impact in our communities and we will continue to do so
