The main objective of the project is to reduce girls’ absences from school as a result of poor menstrual hygiene practices by providing know how for sanitary pads and education to address the stigma surrounding menstruation in Cameroon’s Far North, Adamawa, North West and South West Regions. This was achieved through the following:
1. Carrying out a 4 day training (two days per region) to train 20 peer educators
2. Ensure that at the end of the training, all 20-peer educators have mastered the
art of making their own reusable sanitary pad, menstrual beads so that they will
no longer skip school during menstruation.
3. Organisez practical sessions (one per region) lead by the just trained peer
educators to demonstrate the peer educator’s mastery of the program.
4. Start collecting feedback from the peer educator’s experiences to incorporate
into the final training resource, which will be produced at the end of the project
as a blueprint for Gender and Menstrual Hygiene Management in Cameroon.
